A boy who is racing against time

  

  The boy in the picture is Stephen Sutton. He was diagnosed① with cancer in 2010 when he was 15. Doctors have told him that he’d be unlikely to survive② more than few years. What could he do? Wait for death or do something useful? Despite facing a very uncertain future, last January the fun loving teenager drew up list of 46 tasks he wants to complete before he dies. He has already ticked off③ 36 of the 46 tasks and he has finished number one on the list—of raising 1 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

  He said: “I’m pretty much like your average teenager④—except for the last four years now I’ve been battling cancer. I want to spend as much time as possible raising as much money as possible for a charity. I think it will help others, save others and change people’s lives.” Thanks to the support from individuals and organizations across the country, Stephen is well on his way to achieving his goals, and at the time of writing, his Just Giving page is showing that he has already raised over 3 million pounds for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Mr Cameron, the Prime Minister of Britain, knew Stephen’s story and visited Stephen in hospital not long ago. He described Stephen as “an amazing guy” and “an inspiration”. Do you think so?
